The Philanthropic Planning Group of Greater New York is a nonprofit education and networking group of gift planners and allied professionals in New York City. The board realized that maintain their credibility as leaders in philanthropic planning education they needed to create a more professional brand image, update their website, and market their message more effectively.

PPGGNY wanted a website to make it easy for members to register for monthly education events throughout the year as well as their annual spring conference. Event registrations are often submitted by support staff who then register multiple members from the same company. ActiveCanvas met these requirements with a flexible registration form that also accepts both checks and credit cards. A members only section enables members to manage their own membership information, renew their membership, join a committee, create forums, and access speaker handouts and organizational documents. The membership renewal process is also flexible; members can log in and use pre-filled forms, or avoid the login procedure all together.

Sponsor ads are strategically placed throughout the site. The frequency of an ad’s appearance on any given page is controlled by a database that rotates the higher level ads more frequently.

Revenue is produced through a members-only PPGGNY Job Bank. Member organizations post jobs for free, but non-member companies and headhunters pay a fee. PPGGNY is considered the premier member organization in greater New York from which to recruit executive level candidates, so revenue from the Job Bank can be lucrative.

Administrative tools are customized for the exclusive use of the Executive Director. Event Registration and Membership Renewal reports are among the most used. Because the reports are dynamic, they can be exported as Excel files and used in other database management programs like MS Access.
